Iheanacho keeps Yaya Toure Out of City's Champions League Squad

In a measure of how far Yaya Toure had fallen in Man City's pecking order on one hand, and how much Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho's stature in the club had grown, Man City coach Pep Guardiola decided to include the 19 year old Iheanacho in City's Champion's League Squad. Guess who was sacrificed for this? Yaya Toure

UEFA Rules currently allow a club to register only 17 foreign born players in its Champions League squad. Man City had 18, so Pep Guardiola was forced to chose amongst which players he felt would contribute to the club's campaign. Kelechi Iheanacho made the cut. Yaya didn't.

He has only played once this season, in the second leg of the Champions League play-off against Steaua Bucharest, when City were already 5-0 up from the first game.

It was rumoured Toure might leave the club following Guardiola's arrival, with Inter Milan one of the clubs who were interested.

However, the player never had any desire to leave City and intends to see out his contract, which expires in 2017.
