The Hustle Is Real! Teenager Caught Selling Soap as Phones!

Here's one for all of you who buy phones in traffic ( But seriously, does anybody enter traffic with the intention of pricing and buying a phone?)

The Rapid Response Squad of the Lagos State Command arrested a teenager named Segun Adeyefa, for allegedly selling bars of soap to members of the public, who thought they were buying phones instead.

His story? Well according to Segun, he was once a victim of a similar scam, and in true copy-copy Nigerian fashion (the same way we are shamelessly copying Linda Ikeji), he decided to join in the fun and scam his fellow Nigerians.

So, how do you trick someone into buying a bar of soap as a phone? Well, the teenager explained that he would show his victims a real phone, and cover it with a white handkerchief. He would explain that to his victim that people were watching, and he did not want them to see that he was selling in traffic. After the victim paid, he would hand over the handkerchief covered item to the buyer.

The buyer would not know that he had already switched the phone with a bar of soap. He would then tell the victim to keep the phone in his pocket for some time, so that nobody would supspect that a commercial transaction had taken place, then he would move to another location. The unsuspecting buyer would move on happily, thinking he had just bought an expensive phone at a cheap price, not know that he had just bought a cheap bar of soap at an expensive price.

While confirming the arrest, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Dolapo Badmos, a superintendent , warned the general public to be wary of individuals who approach them to buy phones on highways so as not to fall victim to conmen.

She said: “Items such as fake phones, bar soap cut to size, shirts, some amount of money and packets of envelopes cut to carton-sizes were recovered from him. The suspect has been transferred to Lagos State Task Force on Environment for prosecution.”

This one no need police advice. Bros eh, if person wan sell you something for inside white handkerchief, you no need your village jazzman to tell you make you no buy. If you buy am, anything wey you see take am like that. Use the soap baff, no complain.
