Messi's Injury May Cause Him to Miss Celtic Clash

Barcelona have confirmed that Lionel Messi is “still having trouble” with his left hamstring, although his injury is not serious. Messi pulled up with a pelvic problem for Argentina during the international break, and the No 10 has since been advised by Barca to train lightly until further notice.

“Tests conducted today on Leo Messi have confirmed that the player is still having trouble with the adductor muscle in his left hamstring,” read a statement on the Catalans’ official website.

“He has been recommended to lighten his training load over the next few days and his availability will depend on how the issue progresses.”

Messi has played every minute of Barca’s season to date, scoring three goals in four matches, and completed Argentina’s 1-0 victory over Uruguay in 2018 World Cup qualifying last week, which saw him emerge as the match-winner.
