An eyewitness, who simply identified himself as Muideen said " I came here to buy Ram, suddenly I saw people shouting thief thief running towards my direction, I saw a man who should be in his late 20s riding away on a Chinjeg machine.

"He was riding ferociously towards Basin from Sango, owing to the hot chase, he lost control and fell down from the Okada.

"He was pounced on beaten mercilessly, dangerous weapons like axe, burning stick among others were used to beat him to stupor.

He was however rescued by men of the Mobile Police force who prevented him from being lynched."

An hour after he was rescued by the police, he was yet to be taken to the hospital, rather he was left on the road side.

Witnesses said the police officers left him seated on the street for more than 1 hour, on the guise that his blood would stain van and they had no money for car wash.

They refused to evacuate him until someone contacted the DPO, who scolded them profusely before they eventually evacuated him.
