Their romance has caused a backlash on social media including from Jim's 32-year-old daughter Allison. Allison Kerr, 32, commented: 'It's my dad and I'm 32 so imagine how me and my family feel seeing that'.
She added that the family now had "nothing to do with him anymore".
Apparently, the teenager lost her virginity to the 60 year old Janitor and after the proposal, the father-of-three Mr Kerr smiled and said "Yes, definitely" before leaning in for a kiss.
The proposal was captured on camera by a local radio station and showed Ms Miller wiping away tears after the proposal.
A spokesman for East Renfrewshire Council said: "This individual no longer works at the school".
'He was never a member of council staff but was employed by the PFI (private finance initiative) contractor for the campus.
Although the pair insist their relationship started after Ms Miller left school, Mr Kerr's contract with Woodfarm High in East Renrewshire was still suspended after news of their relationship got out.
A spokesman for his employers, BAM said: "We were informed about this in March and suspended him the same day".'The school is fully aware and was informed over an email.
"At the time we became aware of this, the girl was over the age of consent so legally they hadn't done anything wrong but professionally we did what we had to do. The investigation has now concluded", he added.
